can 1'' horn(throats) be "bored out" to accept 1.4" drivers?

A weird question..maybe??

I figured that some of the sectoral (and other) horns are rarer in 1.4" form, but more common in 1" size. Could they be machined out to 1.4"? Is the shape and flare rate etc different for a 1" horn than for a 1.4" horn, or are the horns exactly the same other than the throat size fitting joined (welded) to the horn flare. ie. do 511B/811B differ from 511E/811B in thses regards? Disregard modifying considerations and making non original?

What you want to do do is make a 511E. You don't need to bore the inside but just cut the flange off and re-weld a new 1.4" flange to the horn.This has been done many times before.Since they are aluminum you will need a very good welder who can do this properly.Send Steve Mac a PM.I think he has done this before.
